You may need hearing aids at some point in your life. If you have hearing loss or a problem with your hearing, hearing aids may be required. As you get older, your hearing can become worse or it can be caused by environmental factors. Many people who work with loud noises like jet engines, for example, experience hearing loss.

You might be interested in advanced features when you are considering hearing aids. You might find the most beneficial features in the latest hearing aids.

DIFFERENT PROGRAMS

You may be able to select from a variety of programs with modern hearing aids. This is a great feature because you can change the settings to suit your environment. You might prefer the sound of your hearing aid to be louder when you’re in a crowd than it is at home. You might also want your hearing aid to be on a different setting when you watch TV than when you eat dinner. You can change the program to make sure you have the best setting possible for your hearing aid.

Many hearing aids have programs that automatically switch between modes. If you are in an environment that makes it harder to hear, the tech will recognize this and switch accordingly.

BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY

Your hearing aid may also have Bluetooth technology. What does this mean exactly? This basically means that if your hearing aid has Bluetooth connectivity, it will connect to any Bluetooth device to play audio. It could be your phone, iPod, TV, surround sound system, or any other Bluetooth device. You can connect immediately if your device has Bluetooth connectivity. Although some hearing aids allow you to connect to sources directly by wire, this is not as common in wireless tech. Your two hearing aids can be connected wirelessly using Bluetooth. They will be able to produce synchronized sounds, rather than one being louder or delayed.

INDICATION OF LOW-BATTERY

Talk to your audiologist to discuss a low-battery indicator for your hearing aid. Although this is a standard feature on many hearing aids, it’s not always available. This will notify you when your battery is almost empty. This will prevent you from running out of battery at the worst possible time.

DIRECTIONAL MICROPHONES

You can also get hearing aids that have two microphones. One at the front and one back. Modern hearing aids can recognize when you are in a noisy environment and will switch off one of the mics. You can now focus your attention on the source and eliminate any noise around it.
