Tinnitus can cause severe discomfort. Relaxation exercises can be very helpful for many people. Here are some you can do at home.

The Setting-up

Before you begin the tinnitus relaxation exercises, it is important that you are comfortable

  • Sit in a comfortable chair in a quiet place
  • Listen to soothing music while you do the exercises. If the music is distracting, turn it off.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes and take off your shoes

Tinnitus exercises

Progressive muscle relaxation – While you are sitting down, pay attention to one part of your body, such as your right foot. For 8 seconds, inhale and focus on the muscles that you are concentrating on. You can release them by letting go. Allow the pain and tightness to go while you slowly exhale. This process should continue from the head to your feet.

Deep breathing – Repeat this 20 times: Inhale through your mouth completely. 2. For 4 seconds, inhale through the nose. 3. For 4 seconds, hold your breath. 4. For 6-8 seconds, exhale through the mouth

Guided imagery – After you have completed your deep breathing exercises, you can close your eyes and imagine yourself in a relaxing environment. You can imagine the scene using all your senses. Relaxing background music can make you even more at ease.

Music Therapy can provide relief

Tinnitus can be treated with music therapy. Tinnitus management typically uses music, white noise, or environmental sounds to amplify the sounds.\
